Former Rice guard Cameron Sheffield transfers to Duke men’s basketball
Duke is putting the final pieces together for its new-look 2024-25 roster.
Cameron Sheffield, a guard from Rice, announced his commitment May 16 to the Blue Devils Thursday afternoon via X.
Sheffield is a 6-foot-6 wing who played three seasons for the Owls, before redshirting last season due to a foot injury. He was a consistent starter in the 2022-23 season as mainly a 3-point threat, shooting 37.3% from behind the arc.
He averaged 7.6 points per game in that season, with a season-high 15 points twice. Despite his size, Sheffield was second on his team with 6.1 rebounds per game. He also was a force on the defensive end, drawing a team-high 27 charges.
The Alpharetta, Ga., native is the fourth transfer prospect for head coach Jon Scheyer this cycle, after Mason Gillis, Maliq Brown and Sion James.
Sheffield is a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining.
