Leicester City consider manager who saw his 12-year record broken by Jamie Vardy.
Leicester City could take their search for a new manager a little left field following latest reports.
With Enzo Maresca leaving the club to take charge of Chelsea despite promotion, Leicester City are exploring a number of options for their vacant manager post.
West Brom’s Carlos Corberan was seemingly the early lead candidate but the Baggies’ compensation demands look to have out off the Foxes’ hierarchy.
Names such as Steve Cooper, Graham Potter and even former Chelsea manager Mauricio Sarri have all been linked, but latest reports suggest Leicester are now considering a move for a Manchester United legend.
Ruud van Nistelrooy one name ‘proposed’ for Leicester job.
According to The Daily Mail, Leicester are looking to whittle down their potential managerial candidates to a shortlist of three or four names.
Luton Town manager Rob Edwards is reported to have admirers at the King Power Stadium, but former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy is a more rogue name that is being considered.
The Daily Mail report states: ‘Former Manchester United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has not worked since leaving PSV Eindhoven, is another name proposed to the Leicester board, who approached Graham Potter in spring 2023 after sacking Brendan Rodgers.’
This would represent a big risk for Leicester given that the Dutchman has only managed one senior side in PSV and his tenure only lasted one season.
Van Nistelrooy did manage to win the Dutch Cup in his solitary year in charge but left under a cloud with rumours of a player revolt being the reason for his departure.
