Coventry City Linked With Double Transfer Swoop.
Coventry City have been linked with Sheffield Wednesday forward Josh Windass (Pete O’Rourke) and FC Lausanne-Sport midfielder Alvyn Sanches (Express) as their summer transfer preparations continue.
The Sky Blues have already clinched their first signing of the summer in the form of winger Raphael Borges Rodrigues whilst also welcoming January signing Ephron Mason-Clark to the club and have now been linked with two new targets.
Who are the duo?
Beginning with the familiar face of Sheffield Wednesday’s Josh Windass, the forward is out of contract at Danny Rohl’s side and could leave for free this summer.
Windass made 25 league appearances for the club last season, scoring six goals and providing two additional assists. He also scored against the Sky Blues in January and ended the campaign with three goals in his final three games of the season.
Meanwhile, Sanches is a 21-year-old central midfielder who’s also a regular for Switzerland’s U21s. He was born in France but is of Swiss and Portuguese descent.
He made 27 appearances in all competitions last season for FC Lausanne-Sport, scoring six goals. Despite being a central midfielder, Sanches can also operate as an attacking midfielder or centre forward if required.
Do Coventry face competition?
Within the Josh Windass race, Pete O’Rourke has also claimed that Championship rivals Hull City are also in the race to sign the forward whilst Sheffield Wednesday have their eyes set on retaining him with a new contract.
Meanwhile, Sanches is on the radar of the Sky Blues with his price tag reportedly set at £4 million. However, the Sky Blues face competition from Championship rivals Stoke City as well as SPFL giants Celtic.
What do these links mean for the Sky Blues?
With both Windass and Sanches being able to operate as an attacking midfielder, it suggests that the Sky Blues are continuing with their plans to replace Callum O’Hare who is set to leave the club this summer once his current deal expires.
Coventry have already walked away from a deal to sign Huddersfield’s Jack Rudoni due to his high price tag and it appears as though Mark Robins and his team have found alternative options ahead of the summer window.
