Greene has played primarily left field and designated hitter in 2024 after starting 168 games in center field in 2022 and 2023.
Catcher Jake Rogers; infielders Andy Ibanez and Zach McKinstry; and outfielder Wenceel Perez will be available off the bench.
On the mound, Tigers right-hander Jack Flaherty (1-4, 3.84 ERA) will face Boston right-hander Nick Pivetta (2-3, 4.20).
Pivetta has missed about a month this season with a right elbow flexor strain, but when healthy he’s been good. Pivetta has 33 strikeouts and five walks in 30 innings, although he’s coming off a shaky start on May 25 against Milwaukee.
Flaherty was scheduled to start Wednesday against the Pirates but was pushed back one day due to rain.
Flaherty is averaging 12 strikeouts per nine innings, the second-best ratio in baseball.
