Christopher Schindler and the ex-Huddersfield Town stars looking for new challenges.

Several former Terriers are in the marker for their next challenge this summer.

A number of former Huddersfield Town players will be on the move this summer as their time with their current clubs comes to an end. Clubs have recently taken the first step on their squad building for the summer by publishing their retained lists, where it has been confirmed which players are staying and leaving during the off season.

Town confirmed in their statement that eight senior players would be departing this summer, including three loan players returning to their parent clubs, while they added that “a number of contracted players have also been made available for transfer”.

As clubs begin to put together their squads for the upcoming campaign, we’ve taken a look at some former Town players who will be heading for pastures new this summer.

Christopher Schindler
The scorer of that infamous winning penalty at Wembley that sent Town to the Premier League seven years ago, Schindler is departing FC Nurnberg after a three-year spell.

The German centre-back made 184 appearances for the Terriers across a five-year spell, 74 of which were made during Town’s two-year stint in the Premier League, with Schindler winning the club’s player of the season award in both top-flight campaigns.

Having come through the youth system at 1860 Munich to break into the first team before departing to join the Terriers, Schindler returned to Germany in 2021 to sign for FC Nurnberg. He made 62 appearances for the 2. Bundesliga outfit and became the club’s captain, but experienced an injury-hit final campaign prior to leaving the club.
