The New Orleans Pelicans are anticipated to initiate trade discussions with the Cleveland Cavaliers for their star player
The Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Pelicans are quite alike. They both have young talents with lots of potential and some top-notch players. However, they always seem to fall short of expectations. So, why not help each other out?
According to a report by Evan Sidery of Forbes, there’s talk about the teams discussing a trade involving Darius Garland. If Donovan Mitchell decides to stick with Cleveland, Garland’s camp might push for a trade. The Pelicans need a lead guard, and Garland could fit the bill.
There are also questions about Brandon Ingram’s future in New Orleans.
Pairing him with Mitchell in Cleveland could make sense. Ingram is a top small forward, but he’s had injury issues and might thrive as a second option.
Garland’s performance has dipped since teaming up with Mitchell, so perhaps a change of scenery could benefit him. This trade could benefit both teams and players. The Cavaliers might also include Jarrett Allen in the deal to strengthen their roster around Mitchell, Ingram, and Evan Mobley.
If this trade doesn’t happen, expect lots of rumors about these players. It’s likely they’ll be wearing different uniforms next season.
