Schwellenbach was the Braves’ second round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft. His professional debut was delayed to 2023 due to Tommy John surgery. He began the 2024 season at High A Rome where he made six starts while posting a 2.53 ERA and 34 strikeouts in 32 innings. That earned him a promotion to Double A Mississippi where he made two starts while throwing 13 scoreless innings. Schwellenbach was ranked as the Braves’ third best prospect in Battery Power’s preseason Top 30 list. With the move, Atlanta’s 40-man roster is now full.
