TEXANS SIGN WR NICO COLLINS TO 3-YEAR $72.75 MILLION EXTENSION.

The Houston Texans just locked their standout wide receiver Nico Collins to a new contract. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the two sides agreed to a three-year extension.

Collins, who is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2024, reportedly received a deal worth $72.75 million. It comes with $52 million in guaranteed money and can max out at $75 million.

The Texans have yet to make the agreement official, but Collins’ agents Drew Rosenhaus, Ryan Matha, and Jason Rosenhaus already confirmed the news to Schefter.

Collins, who was drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft, is coming off his best year as a pro. He finished the 2023 campaign with 80 catches for 1,297 yards and eight touchdowns, all career highs. This made him just the fourth player in Texans’ history to eclipse 1,000 yards receiving.

Considering that Collins only had 70 catches for 927 yards and three TDs in his first two years in the NFL, this might be a risky move for the Texans. However, if it turns out that the last season wasn’t a fluke, the franchise ensures they have a star wideout on a reasonable contract for several years.
