Young Pirates fan has great answer for why he likes Paul Skenes.
A young Pittsburgh Pirates fan gave a great answer when asked what he likes about Paul Skenes.
Skenes, the No. 1 overall draft pick by the Pirates in 2023, pitched for the Pirates in their game against the San Francisco Giants at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Thursday. Skenes allowed just one run over six innings but took a no-decision as his team blew a 5-1 lead and lost 7-6.
His start drew pretty good attendance numbers, which was listed at 23,162 for a noon game on a Thursday. Among the fans in attendance was a young boy who was interviewed by SportsNet Pittsburgh. The boy was asked for his favorite thing about Skenes and gave a strong answer: “his mustache and LIVVY DUNNE!”
Of course, the boy and other members of his family were wearing fake mustaches to support Skenes, who famously sports a mustache. Dunne is Skenes’ girlfriend and a former LSU gymnast who is extremely popular on social media, with millions of followers. Skenes used to pitch at LSU before being drafted by the Pirates and met Dunne through a friend.
