Leeds United could land points deduction after new ‘£20m’ payout – Wyness.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed Leeds United could breach Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) and face a points deduction if they win the play-off final on Sunday (26 May).

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested £20million in win bonuses will be due to the Whites squad if they return to the top flight, which could tip them over the edge of the regulations.

Leeds face Southampton at Wembley on Sunday (26 May) with a place in the Premier League on the line.

Daniel Farke’s Whites overcame Norwich in the semi-finals after finishing third during the regular season, while Russell Martin’s side beat West Brom after finishing fourth.

Leicester, who have already been charged with a PSR breach for the 2022-23 campaign, and Ipswich have already secured automatic promotion to the top flight.
