Hull City braced for significant week in quest to appoint new manager.
The Tigers will hope to have Liam Rosenior’s successor in place in the next few days.
Hull City owner Acun Ilicali will aim to have his new manager in place by the time this week is over, after two weeks of talks with German Tim Walter.
Since Liam Rosenior’s departure from the MKM Stadium on May 7, City have been locked in talks with Walter about all facets of the job, with the former Stuttgart and Hamburg boss doing an extensive deep-dive into the current squad, whilst making his recommendations on where he believes improvements need to be made.
City will need a minimum of eight to 10 new recruits throughout the summer before the transfer window closes on August 30 at 11pm and recruitment strategy has been a key part of those discussions.
Walter, who twice guided Hamburg to the 2. Bundesliga play-offs, met Ilicali in Munich and Monaco earlier this month following Rosenior’s exit and has also met vice-chairman Tan Kesler in a bid to thrash out terms on his appointment in East Yorkshire.
His number one choice, Ilicali is hopeful of concluding talks before the week is out and having his new man in charge as soon as possible with time quickly moving on.
City’s players are expected back in pre-season training at the beginning of July before they head off to their 10-day training camp in Turkey, and the club will be desperate to have as much transfer work done as possible before the flight leaves Humberside Airport.
