Sunderland have registered their interest in Liam Rosenior as they continue their hunt for a new manager, according to a report by Football Insider.

Sunderland are searching for a permanent replacement for Michael Beale following his exit earlier this year. Mike Dodds was in caretaker charge of the North East outfit during the latter stages of this past season as the Black Cats ended up finishing down in a disappointing 16th place in the table.

Rosenior, 39, guided Hull City to 7th position in the league and they fell three points short of the play-offs in the end. As a result, he was sacked by the club’s hierarchy and is now weighing up his next move in the game.

As per Football Insider, he has now emerged on the radar of Sunderland as they prepare for the next campaign. Birmingham City have also placed him on their shortlist as they gear up for life in League One following their relegation from the Championship.

Sunderland could see Rosenior as the man to take them forward and his recent exit from Hull City presents an ideal opportunity to lure him to the Stadium of Light now.

He is a manager who likes to play out from the back and will have learnt a lot from his recent spell at the MKM Stadium.

Despite the Tigers missing out on the top six, his team played attractive football and he looks to be a head coach with a bright future in the game. One key criticism of his style is that Hull City didn’t score enough goals, especially at home
