Wrexham stars were ‘scared’ when star striker Paul Mullin couldn’t breathe following a nasty collision with then-Manchester United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop during pre-season, with Anthony Forde noticing his lips had gone blue.
After securing their return to the Football League, Wrexham went on their first ever pre-season tour to the United States, playing in front of their newfound American fanbase. Since being bought by Hollywood actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, Wrexham has become known around the world due to the success of hit documentary series Welcome to Wrexham.
The Welsh team faced Premier League heavyweights Chelsea and United in pre-season, giving them a serious test before their first season back in League Two for 15 years, but it quickly turned from a dream into a nightmare. While contesting for a lofted through-ball Mullin was slammed into by Bishop, and ended up leaving the field in an oxygen mask before heading to hospital.
