Raiders Head To Summer Training In Costa Mesa For 2024.
The Raiders are heading to Costa Mesa for training camp and Orange County fans of the silver and black are ready for it.
COSTA MESA, CA — Costa Mesa will host the Las Vegas Raiders football team in 2024 for summer training camp.
Recently, the Costa Mesa City Council unanimously approved a deal for the Las Vegas Raiders to conduct training camp at the Jack Hammett Sports Complex.
Costa Mesa Mayor John Stephens released a statement regarding the move. “I’m pleased to welcome the Las Vegas Raiders and their loyal fans, ‘Raider Nation,’ to the great city of Costa Mesa for training camp,” he said.
The Raiders have moved on from their former training center in Henderson, Nevada, and will pay Costa Mesa $165,000 for using the facility. According to the city, they will also give $600,000 to improve two of the sports complex fields to NFL standards.
The team will also conduct a Taam Junior Training Camp for kids aged 6 to 12 and provide 100 tickets for local students to attend an NFL game in Southern California.
The council and the team also discussed donating outdoor weight training equipment to Costa Mesa High School and $10,000 to a local youth sports program.
The Raiders will start training camp on July 19, after field maintenance that begins on June 4.
“The City and the Raiders plan to work closely together to ensure there are minimal disruptions to the community and neighborhoods around Jack Hammett Sports Complex,” a spokesperson for the council said. “Given that the training camp will coincide with the annual OC Fair, the City and the team will collaborate on a comprehensive plan for managing parking and traffic in the area.”
According to the use agreement, the team also has the option to notify Costa Mesa of future interest for the 2025 season.
According to the team, the Los Angeles Chargers, who previously trained at the Costa Mesa complex, will now hold their training in El Segundo.
