New Orleans Saints v Los Angeles Rams

Tyrann Mathieu has high praise and advice for new Saints teammate Spencer Rattler.

Tyrann Mathieu has known about Spencer Rattler for a long time, and now he’s giving advice to the young quarterback that’s now his teammate.

If there’s anyone that can relate to the roller coaster that Spencer Rattler has been on in recent years, it’s his New Orleans Saints teammate Tyrann Mathieu. Rattler was a top prospect in high school, went to Oklahoma with expectations of winning a Heisman and being the No. 1 overall pick, but eventually had his spot taken, transferred colleges, and slid in the NFL Draft because of character concerns.

Like Rattler, Tyrann Mathieu was prep star, then became a National sensation as a sophomore at LSU. He was arguably the best player in college football and was a Heisman trophy finalist. He ended up being dismissed from the LSU program the next year and ultimately became a third-round pick. Still, Mathieu has put together an incredible NFL career, and his career led to him crossing paths with Rattler before they were teammates.

In a recent appearance on Robert Griffin III’s The Ones podcast, Griffin and Mathieu were talking about Rattler being drafted by the Saints. Mathieu reminded everyone that his career started with the Arizona Cardinals. He explained that while in Arizona, he learned plenty about Rattler, who’s from Phoenix. Mathieu reffered to him as the Aaron Rodgers of high school football, before going on to give him some advice.
