DeMeco Ryans Sends A Clear Message To Texans’ Rookies.
Last season, the Houston Texans were extremely aggressive in the 2023 NFL Draft, with the team intent on bringing in two game-changing players with the No. 2 and No. 3 overall picks.
The team landed a franchise quarterback in C.J. Stroud out of Ohio State University, then traded up to the No. 3 spot to bring in defensive end Will Anderson Jr. to help lead the defense moving forward.
Both moves have already started to pay off, with Stroud looking like one of the best quarterbacks in the league already after one season and Anderson proving to be a culture setter on the defensive side of the football.
With a new crop of rookies coming in for the upstart Texans, head coach DeMeco Ryans used Anderson as an example of what the team’s culture is heading into the 2024 campaign via Nick Schwager of SB Nation.
“It’s funny; I put up a picture of Will Anderson,” Ryans said. If you guys want to understand our culture and what we’re about, follow 51.”
The Texans far exceeded expectations last season. With Ryans calling the shots on the sideline, Stroud leading the way for the offense, and Anderson getting it done on defense, Houston will be a team to watch during the 2024 NFL season.
The Texans have put the league on notice and now will be expected to be a force to be reckoned with next season, especially after some of the moves the team made this NFL offseason in order to improve the roster on both sides of the football.
