Buffalo Bills (way-too-early) 53-man roster projection: UDFA rookie to make team?
The Buffalo Bills will look to fill four starting jobs on defense and three on offense when they roll out the footballs for training camp in July.
General manager Brandon Beane overhauled the roster this offseason, so the team’s look and feel will drastically differ in 2024.
“When you count your 53 plus your practice squad – practice squads are so big you’re having to carry more cap money than you did pre-COVID when the practice squads were smaller,” Beane said. “So there’s not a lot there to do. Can we do a little bit? Yes.”
Buffalo has 86 of its 90 available roster spots filled (counting the 11 reported undrafted free agent signings that haven’t yet been announced by the team) and plenty of questions about who will win spots on the team’s initial 53-man roster. It’s too early for this exercise, but let’s use it as a starting point before rookie
Not a big surprise here. The Bills are high on Buechele, but Trubisky has a pretty easy path to the initial 53-man roster. Buffalo signed Trubisky to back up Josh Allen after he had played two seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Trubisky had the same role with Buffalo in the 2021 season.
