FA Cup News: Stoke City vs Brighton Confirmed Line-ups

Brighton And Stoke City ‘come forward’ for signing – Just €15m to seal the deal

Earlier this month, we covered claims from Italy that Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion are among the clubs in the picture to sign Juventus’ Samuel Iling-Junior in the summer window.

On April 8th, Tuttosport reported the north London club are expected to face competition to secure the 20-year-old’s services.

Tutto Juve now bring the latest on the player and Tottenham and Brighton are named as interested parties.

Operating mainly as a left wing-back, Iling-Junior has made 23 appearances this season and that includes only three starts in all competitions.

The England U21 international has just over a year left on his deal and the report states he’s ‘closer to farewell’ in the next window.

That’s because several clubs have ‘come forward’ to sign him, and Tottenham and Brighton are named as the contenders from the Premier League. He’s also being chased by Serie A sides, with Atalanta and Bologna in the mix.

Juventus, for their part, are ready to part ways with Iling-Junior and value him at €15m. This would be an affordable price for both Spurs and the Seagulls.

The Dutchman is said to have agreed a move to Anfield this summer, and it’s fair to say that he’s jumping in at the deep end.

Indeed, this is Slot’s first job in a top-five European league and he’s joining one of the biggest clubs in the world to replace a bona fide legend.

Slot may find it hard to adjust, and speaking on The Two Robbies Podcast, Robbie Earle has suggested a strategy that could allow Slot to settle with greater ease.

Speaking on the podcast, Earle suggested that James Milner could be the ideal assistant manager for Slot at Liverpool.

“I think he should have an English coach come, an assistant come who can connect and understand. James Milner would be the perfect example. Go and say to Milner at Brighton ‘come and start your coaching career and come and help me.’” Earle said.

As much as we agree that Milner would be a fantastic addition to Slot’s coaching team, we can’t see the player himself going for this job.

Milner is 19 games away from breaking the all-time Premier League appearance record – one more season and he’s there.

He won’t want to call his career short when he’s so close to such an incredible milestone.

The ‘unbelievable’ midfielder still has plenty to offer in this game as a player, and he probably isn’t ready to go into coaching yet.

However, perhaps a player/coach role could lure him back to Anfield, allowing Milner to have the best of both worlds.

Perhaps this is one to keep an eye on in the future because Milner would be the ideal leader to keep this Liverpool team on the right track post-Klopp.
