Florida State defensive back Jarrian Jones was selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars in the third round with the No. 96 overall selection in the 2024 NFL Draft on Friday evening. He is the sixth Seminole to be selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. He is also the 300th draft pick in Florida State history.

The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back spent four seasons with the Seminoles, after he transferred in following a freshman campaign at Mississippi State. He settled in during the latter part of his career as a standout nickel for the Seminoles.

In 2023, he appeared in 12 games with nine starts. He recorded 25 tackles, including 5.0 tackles for loss, a sack, three interceptions, including one for a touchdown, three pass breakups, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. He was honorable mention All-ACC. He was also honored in-house as FSU’s most improved defensive player and also was honored with the Bobby Bowden Leadership Award at the end of the 2023 season.

During the 2022 season, he played in 12 games and made 10 starts. He had 19 tackles, four pass breakups, and an interception. He was also honored after that season in-house as FSU’s most improved defensive player. The 2022 season was when Jones became the reliable piece that FSU brought him in to be.

In 2021, he appeared in 12 games with six starts, recording 22 tackles, including 0.5 tackles for loss, an interception, and two pass breakups.

2020, which marked his first season with the Seminoles, saw him play in eight games with three starts. He had 18 tackles and a pass breakup that season.

In his lone season at Mississippi State, which came in 2019, he appeared in 11 games with a start. He had 12 tackles, two pass breakups, and a fumble recovery.

For his career, the Magee, Miss. native appeared in 55 games with 29 starts. He finished with 96 tackles, including 5.5 tackles for loss, and a sack. He also had 12 pass breakups, five interceptions (including one for a touchdown), two fumble recoveries, and a forced fumble.

At the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine, Jones turned in a 4.38-second 40-yard dash, including a 1.53-second 10-yard split. He had a vertical jump of 39.5″ and a broad jump of 10′ 9″. His 40-yard dash time certainly helped his cause. He also showed at the East-West Shrine Game in the pre-draft process his ability to be a corner or nickel option for NFL teams.
