Three More Leicester City Key Players Added To injury update ahead of Preston clash
The latest on the fitness front with Enzo Maresca discussing the injury status of his squad at his press conference ahead of the Championship clash at Preston North End
Leicester City have a fully-fit squad for their potential promotion party at Preston with Marc Albrighton, Ricardo Pereira, and Dennis Praet fit to play.
Enzo Maresca confirmed the clean bill of health at his press conference on Friday afternoon ahead of Monday’s trip to Deepdale, where City will be promoted with a win. However, they could go up before then if Leeds lose to QPR on Friday night.
Maresca will have his full complement to choose from on Monday with Ricardo fit despite being substituted on the hour against Southampton, with Albrighton recovering from a minor injury, and with Praet available despite a studs-up tackle to his ankle in added time in midweek. The fitness of his squad has left Maresca in a good mood.
“They are all available,” the Italian said. “Absolutely (it’s a good feeling). Even Marc Albrighton, who was the only one with some problems, is back. Kasey (McAteer) is finally back. We gave him some minutes the other day. So we’re good for the last two games.
“Ricky is fine. The reason why he didn’t play against West Brom was because he had some problems the day before the game. There was not any reason why Hamza (Choudhury) didn’t play against Southampton after the performance against West Brom, but sometimes you have to take decisions.
“Hamza was fantastic, but now Ricky is fine. The last game against Southampton, we decided to change him to refresh him with Hamza. But overall Ricky is fine. Dennis, he can be okay for the game, yes.”
Maresca had made two changes for the Southampton game, bringing Ricardo in for Choudhury and James Justin in for Conor Coady. But with six days to rest, recover, and prepare for Preston, it could be an unchanged side.
Leicester City could be promoted tonight, but that doesn’t mean they can relax.
If Leeds are defeated by QPR at Loftus Road, then City are a Premier League club again. But if they win, and then Ipswich get past Hull on Saturday, Enzo Maresca’s side have to go and beat Preston on Monday to be certain of their place in the top flight.
And so preparations continue down at Seagrave to get City ready for their trip to Deepdale. They should be high on confidence no matter what happens in the Leeds and Ipswich games after they swatted aside Southampton on Tuesday.
