Transfer rumours and football gossip: Jobe Bellingham, Real Madrid

Hull City hero Noah Ohio reveals Jude Bellingham chat after big Coventry City win

The Tigers remain in the play-off race after Wednesday night’s big win

Fresh from taking the adulation of the travelling supporters after bagging the winner against Coventry City, Hull City’s Wednesday night hero Noah Ohio says he was on the end of a call from Real Madrid and England superstar Jude Bellingham.

Bellingham watched on from Madrid as his close friend Ohio came off the bench to prod in the winning goal at the CBS Arena 12 minutes from time and seal a frantic 3-2 victory against their play-off rivals, just a week after the City frontman was pitchside to see Real ease past Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-final.

Coventry twice battled back after the Tigers had gone in front through Jaden Philogene and Fabio Carvalho’s penalty and it looked like both teams were heading for a draw which would have ended their respective play-off hopes, before Ohio forced the ball into the back of the net.

“Yes! He scored the winner against Barcelona, but Cov away, he hasn’t done that,” he joked simulating the chef’s kiss. “We spoke just now and he said good goal well done, he’s happy for me and I’m happy for him.”

Ohio and Bellingham’s friendship dates back years from when the pair formed a special bond playing for England’s Under-16s, and Ohio says seeing a player of his calibre helps him and his own development.

“We speak daily and we see how each other are doing,” he told Hull Live. “I’m enjoying him, every game that he plays. He’s a big part of the club now and it’s a testament to who he is as a person and the character he shows in the team and, yeah, the big balls he has to perform in those games and to perform in the big games and that’s important, and now, over to me.

“Even today, we have to do things to win the game, drop deep in a low block which normally we don’t like to do but like, again watching Real Madrid against (Manchester) City, they did stuff that they didn’t like to do and those are the best players in the world and you have to sacrifice for each other.

“He ran 15K over 120 minutes, that’s him doing anything he can try to help his team win the game and that’s what big players do. I was there to support him any time I can, I’ll be there to support my family, my friends and the people closest to me, so it was a nice moment.”
