Many Players will miss the Encounter For AFC Bournemouth away at Wolves This Midweek

MARK Travers has been handed his first Premier League start of the season, replacing captain Neto in goal for AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

It is the Irishman’s first Premier League appearance since the final day of last season, when Cherries lost 1-0 away at Everton.

In Neto’s stead, veteran Adam Smith will wear the armband.

Injuries in the goalkeeping department led to Cherries recalling Travers from his loan spell at Stoke City, with the Republic of Ireland international limited to three FA Cup appearances this term.

Earlier this campaign when Neto missed out due to injury, Inter Milan loanee Andrei Radu started in between the sticks.

However, the switch appears to be tactical, with Neto fit enough to be listed on the bench.

Ironically, Neto replaced Travers to make his Premier League debut for Cherries against Wolves last season, Gary O’Neil handing the Brazilian his top-flight bow.

Of course, O’Neil now manages Wolves after his controversial sacking last summer.

Cherries head coach Andoni Iraola has made two further changes to his side, with Antoine Semenyo restored to a starting berth after overcoming a calf issue.

Alex Scott returns to the starting XI, which will likely see Justin Kluivert pushed to the wing.

Dango Ouattara and Lloyd Kelly drop to the bench.

Development squad starlet Dominic Sadi is listed amongst the substitutes, whilst goalkeeping talent Callan McKenna misses out.

Manager Russell Martin confirms the 29 year old AFC Bournemouth loanee will be assessed ahead of facing Stoke City on Saturday.

Rothwell started for the first time since the 0-0 draw with Blackburn Rovers earlier this month in the absence of Stuart Armstrong.

Armstrong has been ruled out for the rest of the season with Rothwell auditioning for his place in the promotion clash at King Power Stadium.
