Leeds United fans will rage over Leicester controversy v Saints

Leicester City’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall replacement have been Agreed at Man City As They Finally…

Leicester look to have identified their Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall replacement. But it hinges on promotion.

Leicester City could lose midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall this summer.

The Englishman has excelled for the league leaders this season, contributing 25 goals and assists to take Enzo Maresca’s side to within touching distance of promotion.

Leicester’s financial issues mean, however, that Dewsbury-Hall, who is valued at around £45m, could leave the club as they try to balance the books.

Dewsbury-Hall has attracted interest from a host of clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton, and Leicester won’t be short of suitors should they be pushed to sell the midfielder.

Manchester City midfielder James McAtee has been linked with a move to Leicester and has been touted as a direct replacement for Dewsbury-Hall but the move depends on whether the Foxes earn promotion to the Premier League.

The versatile 21-year-old is into his second season on loan at Sheffield United, and City are keen to keep the youngster in the Premier League, with Sheffield United’s relegation to the Championship all but confirmed.

Maresca has worked with McAtee before at City and has already used his connections at his former club to bring centre-half Callum Doyle to the Midlands.

Leicester need to sell before they can buy this summer, but in McAtee, they seem to have identified someone they feel can step into Dewsbury-Hall’s shoes should they return to the Premier League next season.

Sheffield United have never looked like staying up this season.

After losing Sander Berge and Iliman Ndiaye in the summer, two of their key players en route to promotion, the Blades were up against it before a ball had even been kicked.

A recent resurgence reignited faint hopes of a miraculous escape but the Blades remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table, and their relegation looks set to be confirmed in the coming weeks.

Despite their struggles, McAtee’s quality has shone through, with the midfielder contributing nine goals and assists in all competitions for the Blades.

Playing across the frontline, McAtee has proven himself capable of taking charge of games as Sheffield United’s strikers have floundered in front of goal.

The England U21 international is most comfortable off the right wing, netting a superb winning goal against Brentford this season after cutting in onto his favoured left foot and curling a shot into the far corner.

McAtee, though, is revered for his versatility and has played as an attacking midfielder and a support striker for the Blades this season, with his ability to arrive late in the box causing problems for defenders.
