Braves News: Travis d’Arnaud cranks three homers, Luke Williams gets the call, and more
The Atlanta Braves opened the series on a high note after Friday night’s 8-3 defeat over the Texas Rangers. Travis d’Arnaud was the player of the game, launching three home runs, one of them in grand fashion.
Marcell Ozuna and Michael Harris II also delivered runs for the good guys, but d’Arnaud’s six RBI are what gave the Braves plenty of insurance against the strong Rangers lineup.
Things were clicking for the Braves on the other side of the ball, too, as Chris Sale made a solid start, tossing seven innings and allowing three earned runs. He struck out seven and surrendered one base on balls.
Tyler Matzek and Pierce Johnson each recorded a scoreless inning and helped lead the Braves to their 13th win of the season.
Atlanta goes for the series win tonight at 7:20 ET with Charlie Morton on the hill.
