91 days till Dolphins season opener: Players who wore No. 91 for Miami

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a new quarterback, and he isn’t just another signal-caller, he’s a likely future Hall of Famer.

Russell Wilson, after being released by the Denver Broncos following a failed two-year stint there, signed with Pittsburgh, giving them their first truly competent player at that position since Ben Roethlisberger retired following the 2021 season.

He seems to be acclimating to his new market well — per Dov Kleiman, he was seen donning Pittsburgh Pirates gear and crushing some baseballs during batting practice.

Wilson does have a baseball background, but obviously decided to take his talents to the NFL.

After 10 seasons of being the face of the Seattle Seahawks and leading them to their first Super Bowl championship, Wilson was traded to the Broncos, and the Broncos felt they were about to return to glory.

But because of injuries, poor roster construction, and some underwhelming play from Wilson, the Broncos didn’t make the playoffs in his two seasons with them.

In Pittsburgh, Wilson will have a legitimate wide receiver threat in the 23-year-old George Pickens, as well as a defense that should consistently have his back.

That defense boasts pass rusher T.J. Watt and emerging linebacker Patrick Queen, whom they signed away from the Baltimore Ravens after he made the Pro Bowl for the first time in 2023.

The Steelers will have to contend with a very deep AFC and a brutal AFC North, but they may now have the weapons to do so.
