Liverpool transfer update could have huge impact at Coventry City
Liverpool are eyeing the appointment of a successor to Jurgen Klopp, which could have an impact at Coventry City this summer
Amorim linked with Liverpool and wants to take Viktor Gyokeres with him to Anfield, which would earn Coventry a hefty windfall.
Coventry City may benefit from a percentage of any deal involving Gyokeres due to a smart negotiation.
The departure of Gyokeres led to initial struggles, but a potential big sell-on fee could boost summer plans.
Ruben Amorim is reportedly desperate to bring Viktor Gyokeres with him to Liverpool this summer if he is appointed as Jurgen Klopp’s successor, which could see Coventry City bag a sizeable windfall.
According to Teamtalk, the Sporting Clube de Lisbon coach is closing in on a move to Anfield, having been offered a three-year deal by the Premier League side.
This could have a serious knock-on effect at the CBS Arena, as any deal involving Gyokeres will see Coventry earn a percentage of the transfer fee.
The Swede spent two-and-a-half seasons with the Sky Blues before signing for Sporting last summer.
He contributed 41 goals and 15 assists from 110 league appearances in Mark Robins’ side before making the switch to Portugal (all stats from Fbref).
Viktor Gyokeres transfer latest
Liverpool are searching for a successor to Klopp following confirmation that the German is departing the Reds at the end of the campaign.
Amorim is thought to be the frontrunner for the position following Xabi Alonso’s decision to stay at Bayer Leverkusen.
Gyokeres has gone from strength to strength under the 39-year-old, scoring 22 goals in the Portuguese top flight this year.
This has attracted plenty of transfer interest, with the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal previously linked with a move for the 25-year-old.
