Gary O’Neil says one Wolves player has ‘some pain’, he might undergo surgery this week,

Wolves walked out of the City Ground with a point on Saturday, but after the game, Gary O’Neil has revealed his side’s injury woes.

For Wolves, Saturday saw the return of Matheus Cunha to the starting line-up, something that has been long awaited.

The Brazilian has been incredible this season and his impact was felt immediately as he bagged a brace during the 2-2 draw.

Forest however was up to the fight and responded through Morgan Gibbs-White and Danilo, even leading for a period.

A high-scoring game however which handed Wolves an undeserved point.

Now after the game, Gary O’Neil has revealed some concerning news regarding his side.

Speaking with Premier League Productions after the game, Wolves boss Gary O’Neil had some concerning comments on his player’s fitness.

He began by explaining that Craig Dawson is experiencing pain but worryingly suggested that surgery may be on the cards.

“Dawson is playing through some pain at the minute so may undergo some sort of surgery this week to help him.”

He then continued to explain the situation of both Nelson Semedo and Pablo Sarabia‘s fitness.

“Semedo’s hamstrings tightened up at the end, and Sarabia was exhausted too.”

This only goes to show just how stretched the squad is right now, O’Neil will be desperate for the summer to arrive.

For O’Neil, he’ll be hopeful that this coming summer sees him receive the reinforcements he so clearly needs.

Such a thin squad is just leading to inevitable poor form like this and makes maintaining the excellence we saw earlier in the campaign, unsustainable.

A lot of work to do, but with Cunha at his disposal along with the promising form we saw this season, we’d back O’Neil to be a success here. But he needs to be backed.

Hopefully, the end of this season will smoothish and the league finish represents the excellent job he’s done.
