Abdush Omur’s growing love for Hull City and two of his Tigers teammates
The diminutive Turkish international has been a real hit since his £2m January move from Trabzonspor.
Abdush Omur has opened up on his move from Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor to Hull City, as the playmaker continues to impress following his January transfer after another impressive showing on Saturday in the 3-1 win at Cardiff.
Omur has become a firm fixture in Liam Rosenior’s side in recent weeks with his all-action performances seeing him become a favourite among City fans, who have taken him to their hearts, just like they did with Ozan Tufan.
The Turkish international says owner Acun Ilicali was a key driving force behind the permanent move, and revealed their meeting in Istanbul coupled with conversations with Liam Rosenior convinced him very quickly to leave his boyhood club.
“The first reason I came to England, I can say (was because of) Acun Ilicali because he is a person that I love so much,” Omur told Hull Live in his first external media interview. “He’s very successful, we met together and he told me about his dreams and what we were going to do with Hull. We have dreams with the fans and the players. We spoke for just one hour and I said we would write your story together. After that, I am here.”
Naturally, compatriot Ozan Tufan has been a big source of help to Omur in both giving him the lowdown on City, and helping him adjust to life away from the hustle and bustle of Istanbul and settle into sleepy East Yorkshire, admitting it was always a dream to try his hand in Europe.
“We have dreams, like when I came here with Acun and our fans and I hope at the end of the season, we have achieved it. Before I came here, I spoke with Ozan, he said to me, that everyone is young, everyone is friendly, and everyone tries to help each other. Before coming here, the team was already in the play-off places.
