Trump Posts Ringing Endorsement from NY Yankees Legend — Who Calls the Former President a Longtime Friend.
Former President Donald Trump touted his endorsement from New York Yankees legend Mariano Rivera, who told radio host Sid Rosenberg Friday that he will vote for his “friend” in November.
Trump posted an excerpt of the WABC Radio NY interview to his Truth Social account Sunday.
Trump presented the legendary Yankees closer with the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2019 — which Rivera called one of the most amazing experiences of his life.
“Having been given the Freedom of Honor medal from Donald Trump was amazing. I mean it was an amazing moment,” Rivera told WABC radio Friday, adding, “Receiving that medal was special.”
WABC’s Rosenberg said, “I’m very afraid, Mariano, for New York and this world … I’ve got a 19-year-old daughter, she’s gonna turn 20 on Sunday, and a 15-year-old son, and I think we need President Trump to win or it could be very, very ugly. Do you agree with that?”
“I agree with that,” Rivera said. He added, “President Trump, he’s my friend. I can’t deny that. Before he was the president, he was my friend. Because of that, I’m going to vote for him.”
