Leeds United owners 49ers given Kalvin Phillips transfer instruction after Man City troubles.
Leeds United are reportedly interested in bringing Kalvin Phillips back to Elland Road, with the England international having failed to shine at Man City or West Ham United.
It is the transfer rumour that refuses to go away. Promotion-chasing Leeds United continue to be strongly linked with a summer move for Kalvin Phillips, despite the midfielder’s struggles with Manchester City and West Ham United.
The England international, a lynchpin of the Whites’ 2020 promotion-winning team under Marcelo Bielsa, faces an uncertain future after a troubled campaign. Things have not gone according to plan for Phillips since he joined the Hammers in the January transfer window.
It has been claimed Phillips would consider a return to Elland Road this summer. A report in The Sun has suggested City would sell the 28-year-old for around £30m.
Leeds Live recently conducted a poll asking supporters about the possibility of re-signing Phillips, despite his poor form for West Ham. More than 1,500 took part, with 55 per cent of respondents saying the Whites should consider the deal if the price is right. Thirty nine per cent said ‘no’ and six per cent went with the option ‘yes, at any price.’
We also quizzed fans on the cost of a potential deal for Phillips. We asked ‘what is the most United should spend on Phillips?’
Forty nine per cent responded with £25m, 30 per cent put £10m and 18 per cent said ‘nothing.’ Three per cent selected £40m but no one voted for £50m or more than £50m options.
Phillips, who was omitted from the recent England squad, is due to return to his parent club Man City following the climax of the 2023/24 season.
