Inside Hull City’s dressing room as must-win Cardiff City trip looms large.

The Tigers know only three points in South Wales will help ease their play-off worries.

Hull City defender Alfie Jones says people should not write off the Tigers in their quest to finish in the Championship’s top six and give themselves a shot at the play-offs.

Monday night’s 3-1 loss at Leeds United may have been unfortunate for City who played well against the promotion-chasers, but it left them with successive defeats over the Easter weekend and without a win in their last six games.

That costly run of form has seen Liam Rosenior’s men slump to 10th in the table and six points adrift of the play-off pack with only seven games remaining, and though his side have a game in hand on Norwich in the final top-six spot, many outside the Tigers’ inner sanctum have already written off their chances, particularly given their recent run.

Part of their problem recently has been a lack of creativity and putting the ball in the back of the net. At Elland Road, City dominated for long periods but struggled to force Whites goalkeeper Illan Meslier into any serious work, while against Stoke, Rosenior’s men couldn’t muster a single effort on target, and that is something which has to change, says Jones.

“I thought we dominated that spell after and I felt like we controlled a good chunk of the game,” the defender told Hull Live. “When you’re doing that, that’s when you need to score in that period and at the moment, we’re not quite doing that so we need to rectify that. We have to have a push in these last seven games.
