Hull City’s play-off hopes addressed after pointless Easter period leaves Tigers adrift.
The Tigers were beaten twice over the Easter weekend and are in desperate need of wins in the final seven games to have any hope of a top-six finish.
Easter was a weekend to forget for Hull City after two games and two defeats left their hopes of sealing a play-off place hanging by the proverbial thread.
Friday’s no-show against Stoke City was the damaging result of the weekend in front of a sold-out, expectant crowd at the MKM Stadium and left the Tigers six points adrift of the top six.
Liam Rosenior’s men put in an impressive display at Leeds United on Monday but came away empty-handed after giving away a daft penalty two minutes shy of the 90 before conceding again deep into added time when they were chasing an equaliser.
While the teams immediately above the Tigers in the table lost, City couldn’t gain ground and instead, saw another game pass by without victory, their witness run now stands at six games with just seven left to play.
Rosenior’s side are next in action when they travel to Cardiff City on Saturday, another team who haven’t quite yet given up their faint hopes of gatecrashing the top six-party, before Middlesbrough and QPR provide the opposition in successive home games in a week that will go a long to deciding City’s fate in the race for the top six.
The Easter weekend and upcoming fixtures were key topics of discussion on the latest episode of the 1904 Club podcast with Barry Cooper, David Burns, David Prutton and James Fletcher.
