Latest Max Scherzer Injury Update is Good News for Rangers’ Starting Rotation.

The Texas Rangers received some good news on Max Scherzer’s injury for 2024.

The MLB season is officially underway on Mar. 28 and the Texas Rangers look to defend their World Series title. The Rangers will square off against the Chicago Cubs but one of their aces won’t be dressed.

Max Scherzer underwent offseason back surgery for a herniated disc but Texas has received some good news.

Per ESPN’s Buster Olney, Scherzer is progressing well. GM Chris Young believes that Scherzer won’t be placed on the 60-day IL and hints at a possible return in May.

Scherzer was initially expected to be out until June or July so this is terrific news. He underwent back surgery on Dec. 15 but his rehab has gone well.

Last season, the 39-year-old was acquired from the New York Mets in exchange for infielder Luisangel Acuña.

When healthy, Scherzer is one of the top pitchers in the league. He’s notched eight All-Star appearances and three Cy-Young Awards.

Across his 18-year career, the Missouri native owns a 214-108 record with a 3.15 ERA with 3,367 strikeouts.

Whenever Scherzer returns to the mound, the Rangers will get a massive boost. Texas will already be without Jacob DeGrom until August so getting great news regarding Scherzer’s rehab will have a positive impact.

Rolling into the regular season, the Rangers are currently have the fifth-best odds (+1400) to win the World Series, behind the Houston Astros. They will need their stars healthy and available for the season to make a run for it.
