Wigan Athletic risk losing Stephen Humphrys on a free transfer this summer.
Wigan Athletic have a decision to make regarding the striker’s long-term future at the DW Stadium.
Humphrys, 26, was the subject of a bid from Wrexham in the January transfer window, as reported by TEAMtalk.
The Latics should try and tie him down to a new deal with his current club up in the summer.
Wigan Athletic should keep hold of striker
Humphrys has had a decent season for Wigan and losing him for nothing in late June, potentially to another team in League One, would be a blow.
He has scored 11 goals in all competitions in this campaign and has enjoyed a new lease of life under the guidance of Shaun Maloney.
The Latics have a few players entering the final months of their deals such as Jason Kerr, Jordan James and Tom Pearce and need to start addressing player’s situations sooner rather than later.
Wigan signed Humphrys back in 2021 but it took him a while to adapt to life with the North West outfit.
He scored seven goals in his first year as they were promoted to the Championship. However, he was then loaned out to Hearts and it appeared his time with the club could have been over.
