New York Jets to Acquire Former All-Pro Defender in Latest 2024 NFL Free Agency Projections.

Can the New York Jets reach their full potential in 2024?

In PFF’s latest 2024 NFL free agency projections, the New York Jets could be adding a much-needed veteran’s presence and some depth along their already stacked (with young players) defensive line.

Former All-Pro defensive end, Calais Campbell is the fit when it comes to PFF’s projections, as the soon-to-be 38-year-old is coming off a solid 56 tackle, 6.5 sack season with the Atlanta Falcons in 2023, a season in which he recorded his 100th career sack in the club’s week six tilt against the Washington Commanders.

“Campbell is an ageless wonder who continued to be one of the strongest players in the NFL at his new stop in Atlanta this past season, with a dip in burst off the line when rushing the passer made up for by an anchor against the run as difficult to displace as any defensive lineman in the NFL.”

Everything was set for the New York Jets to be legitimate Super Bowl contenders for the first time in seemingly forever. However, the Aaron Rodgers era in ‘The Big Apple’ didn’t go as planned as the future first-ballot Hall of Fame quarterback tore his Achilles on the very first drive of his Jets career.

As expected, the QB carousel of Zach Wilson, Trevor Siemian, and Tim Boyle didn’t quite get the job done as the Jets finished with a subpar 7-10 record despite some flashes from the usual suspects Sauce Gardner, Garrett Wilson, and Breece Hall.
