Dodgers Jared Karros Shares Special Moment With Father Eric With Dazzling Pitching Performance Versus Angels
The Los Angeles Dodgers have a long line of talented pitchers at their disposal and seem to have found another rising star in right-hander Jared Karros. The 23-year-old was a 16th round pick out of the University of California Los Angeles in the 2022 draft and is gradually working his way up the organization’s ladder.
On Tuesday, Karros was brought on in the seventh inning of a spring training game to face the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium. With the game tied at 3-3, Karros was put in a difficult spot. He proceeded to give up just one hit, one walk and struck out four batters getting through two complete innings.
It was a special moment for the young pitcher whose father, Eric, was in the broadcast booth covering the game. Eric Karros is former MLB players himself who spent 14 seasons in the majors with the Dodgers, Chicago Cubs and Oakland Athletics. After Jared struck out Angels’ outfielder Jo Adell to end the seventh inning, cameras captured the proud father on his feet providing his son with applause.
Karros has only had one season in the minor leagues but impressed with a 4-4 record and a 3.44 ERA in 2023. He recorded over a strikeout per inning with 86 strikeouts in 83.2 total innings and ended the year with a respectable 1.124 WHIP.
Seeing his son donning the Dodger blue jersey in front of 44,377 fans in attendance had to have been a special moment for Eric Karros. If the young man continues to develop the way he has, it is only a matter of time before he follows in his father’s footsteps and makes his MLB debut.
