Leeds United’s “fast-tracked” U18 sensation wanted by Newcastle and Tottenham – Report
Leeds United’s 16-year-old midfielder Ollie Pickles is reportedly attracting interest from Premier League duo Tottenham and Newcastle United.
The Whites’ academy strength has been there for all to see with players breaking into the first team under Daniel Farke, no more so than Archie Gray.
Others in the youth ranks are looking to make an impression in the coming years though, particularly where the midfield is concerned.
Ollie Pickles on Newcastle and Tottenham’s radar
After losing teenager Finlay Gorman to Manchester City in a potentially record-breaking £5million deal, other top flight clubs are sniffing around Leeds’ prize talent.
TalkSPORT are now claiming that Whites 16-year-old midfielder Ollie Pickles is attracting attention from both Newcastle United and Tottenham.“Pickles, who is already attracting admiring glances from Newcastle and Tottenham after helping Leeds to the semis of the FA Youth Cup, has been compared to former Elland Road favourite Kalvin Phillips due to his calmness on the ball and range of passing.
“And club insiders see Pickles as the next to be fast-tracked through to the first-team.“
Where will Leeds finish in 23/24?
A deep-lying midfielder, Pickles has made 14 appearances at U18 level across the Premier League North and the FA Youth Cup this season.
He has been a regular in league action since October in the U18s and came off the bench to replace the also highly-rated Charlie Crewe in the penalty shootout win over Sheffield United in the cup fifth round.
