Myles Bryant, Houston Texans, Agree to Contract
After a disappointing 2022, defensive back Myles Bryant had a strong bounce-back season in the final year of his contract. Appearing in 17 games while making nine starts, the do-everything depth piece finished the season with one interception, seven passes defended, two forced fumbles, one sack, 77 tackles, seven tackles-for-loss, and one quarterback hit. While the Patriots themselves finished with one of the worst records in the league, Bryant played a role on one of the NFL’s better defenses.
Myles Bryant originally entered the league as an undrafted free agent following the 2020 NFL Draft. Signing with the New England Patriots after the big event, the Washington product did not make the original 53-man roster. However, Bill Belichick kept him around on the practice squad and he ended up appearing in nine games as a rookie. While on the field, Bryant recorded one interception, one pass defended, and 12 tackles during limited playing time.
Bryant earned a larger role on the defense in his second season. Appearing in 12 games while making two starts, the defensive back finished the year with one interception, three passes defended, one forced fumble, one sack, 41 tackles, and two tackles-for-loss. New England had the best season of the post-Brady Era, going 10-7 and making the playoffs before losing in the Wild Card Round to the Buffalo Bills.
Myles Bryant continued to increase his role in 2022 but took a step back with increased playing time. Still, even with the drop in play, he still finished with one interception and 70 tackles.
Since signing his rookie contract, Myles Bryant has appeared in 55 games while making 17 starts. During his time on the field, the former undrafted free agent has recorded four interceptions, 17 passes defended, two sacks, and 200 tackles.
