, Celtic attacker in talks with EFL club over move, contract up this summer

Watford are in ‘talks’ with Rocco Vata’s representatives over a potential switch from Celtic, as detailed in a report by the Daily Record.

Watford are in discussions as they look to lure the youngster down to the Championship at the end of this season.

Vata, 18, is out of contract this summer and Celtic risk losing him amid interest from elsewhere.

The Daily Record claim the Hornets have made contact but face competition from the likes of AC Milan, Bologna, Sampdoria Como. The Hoops are said to have offered him a new deal until 2027 but he is yet to sign it.

Watford in Celtic attacker talks

Watford could see Vata as someone to bolster their attacking department in the long run. The teenager is highly-rated and has a bright future ahead of him in the game.

The Glasgow-born man has been on the books at Celtic for his whole career to date and has risen up through their academy ranks.

He has been a key player for the Scottish Premiership giants at various youth levels and has most recently established himself as a regular for their B team in the Lowland League, scoring 30 goals in 58 games.

The Republic of Ireland youth international has played six times for the Hoops’ first-team to date, chipping in with a single goal.

However, Vata’s long-term future with Brendan Rodgers’ side is up in the air right now and he has a big decision to make on what to do next as clubs from all over take a look.

Watford could give him a chance to show what he can do in England with a view to getting to the Premier League down the line.

On the other hand, moving to Italy could be a shrewd move by him. Lewis Ferguson left Aberdeen for Bologna in 2022 and that switch has worked wonders for him.
