Arizona Cardinals GM Monti Ossenfort Talks Draft Strategy And Potential Picks
The Arizona Cardinals last year went down to the 12th spot, then later moved up to 6th spot and acquired defensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr.
During the news conference with the head coach, Jonathan Gannon, the general manager, Monti Ossenfort, shared information regarding the upcoming draft.
According to azcentral, he shared, “There will be a big neon sign that says ‘open,’ I don’t like it blinking — that kind of messes with my eyes — but we’ll always have the conversation. We may not get to the point where the deal makes sense, whether it’s at 4 or anywhere we’re picking, but we’re always going to have the conversation. And if it makes sense and it’s attractive to building our team, then it’s something we’ll certainly consider no matter where we’re at in the draft.”
If the Arizona club stays with their decisions, they will have their picks of other players who are not quarterbacks. As per mock drafts, they have chosen to take receiver Marvin Harrison from Ohio and Malik Nabers from LSU. However, Malik could be the initial selected prospect.
Harrison did not participate in Pro Day and at the scouting combine as well. The general manager, Ossenfort, regarding that mentioned, ““I’m a big fan of the more good information we can have in the draft process, the better, but it’s not going to be the first time that a player doesn’t check off every box for the spring process, and it won’t be the last time. In Marvin’s case, it’s his decision and
what he felt was best for him. We respect that and we’ll continue our evaluation process not only on him but every draft prospect and we’ll evaluate the best we can with the information we have.”
Ossenfort has been the general manager of the Cardinals squad from 2023 and he was earlier the director of player personnel at the Tennessee Titans.
