Leeds United were disappointed to lose Luis Sinisterra to Bournemouth late on in the summer transfer window, but it is looking like more and more of a masterstroke.

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola revealed at a press conference on Friday (22 March), as shared by the Premier League club’s X account, that Sinisterra has suffered another injury setback.

The Colombia international sustained a hamstring injury while away with his country and will be out for “four or five weeks at least” in another blow for the player.

It means that, by the time Sinisterra returns in late April or early May, he would have started just six Premier League games for the Cherries since arriving in September.

Bournemouth took up the option to make the loan deal permanent in the winter window for a fee in the region of £20million, which is a slight loss on the £21m paid to sign him in July 2022.

However, given this latest injury setback, and the form of Leeds’ other attackers right now, you have to say that is a great bit of business from the club to cash in when they did.

Not to ever wish an injury on a player, especially one who was connected with Leeds, but Sinisterra unfortunately looks as though he is going to continue being hampered by issues.

Had things panned out differently, Sinisterra would be a Leeds player this season and potentially getting his career back on track, just like those who stuck around.

Instead, he is in a race against time to play again in what has been a very underwhelming first season at Bournemouth, who must be wondering if they will see the £20m fee repaid at any point.
