DIRECTOR THINKS WOLVES PLAYER COULD MOVE TO ITALY WITH CLUBS ‘VERY INTERESTED

Wolverhampton Wanderers could soon be facing interest from Serie A with the one of the Premier League club’s most exciting young talents making his mark out on loan.

At least, that is the view of Federico Spada.

As the sporting director of Independiente de Medellin points out, there is quite the tradition when it comes to Colombian players plying their trade in Italy’s top flight, from Yerry Mina to Juan Cuadrado, Luis Muriel to Duvan Zapata.

And Spada would not be surprised to see a young defender contracted to Gary O’Neil’s Wolves side follow in the footsteps of Cuadrado and co.

Wolves youngster tipped for Serie A move

“The Italian clubs follow the Colombians a lot. Even the Under-20s and Under-23s,” Spada tells Tuttomercatoweb during the Transfer Room summit in Roma.

“I visited Bologna and Atalanta in the past few days. (Bologna) now have (Jhon) Lucumi. (Atalanta had) Muriel and Zapata until recently. They are clubs that are very interested in Colombian talent.”

Colombian talent such as Yerson Mosquera, perhaps?

Capped three times by the national team already at the age of just 22, Wolves fought off competition from the likes of Manchester City when bringing Mosquera to Molineux in a £4.5 million deal back in 2021.

Now on loan at Villarreal in Spain after a spell across the Atlantic at FC Cincinatti, Spada can certainly envisage Mosquera following in the footsteps of some of Los Cafeteros’ favourite sons.
