As a Scotland international at Under-17s level and with an appearance for Leeds at U21 level to his name, McDonald is showing he is not far off being a fully fledged senior player.

McDonald’s statistics in the Premier League North are very impressive, which the club will no doubt hope he can sustain as he makes the step up to regular appearances in Premier League 2.

This is the second new deal awarded to a youth player this week, as Sam Chambers also penned his firs professional deal at Elland Road on Tuesday (19 March).
