- Wouter Burger suspended
- Ben Pearson starts
- Potters otherwise unchanged
Ben Pearson replaces the suspended Wouter Burger in an otherwise unchanged Stoke City line-up to face Norwich City.
Pearson, a summer signing from Bournemouth having won the hearts of the Potters’ faithful during a loan spell during the second half of the previous campaign, comes in for his 23rd start of the season.
The 29-year-old turned in an influential display from the substitute’s bench in the recent fixture at Leeds United prior to being red carded on 87 minutes for a second bookable offence. He returns to the fray this afternoon after serving a one-match suspension.
Burger is serving a two-match ban having collected a tenth yellow card of the season in the 2-1 victory at Preston North End. Junior Tchamadeu remains side-lined through injury for a City side that welcomes Ryan Mmaee back to the bench.
The Potters lined-up at Deepdale with Daniel Iversen in goal and a central defensive trio of Michael Rose, Ben Wilmot and Luke McNally, with the Burnley loanee netting the late winner for Steven Schumacher’s men.
Ki-Jana Hoever and Lynden Gooch operated as wingbacks with the former Sunderland man providing the assist for the own-goal that put the Potters in-front.
Pearson takes over from Burger alongside Lewis Baker and captain Josh Laurent in a central midfield that also featured an advanced role for Bae Junho. Tyrese Campbell starts a home fixture up-front for the first time since early February having impressed his Head Coach in the 2-1 win in Lancashire.
