Dodgers-Rangers prediction, odds, pick, how to watch - 7/21/2023

Dodgers Add the Sensational Star Pitcher from the Texas Rangers which Suits the Gap

As the Dodgers get set for their opening series in Korea against the San Diego Padres, they are finalizing what their roster will look like. Los Angeles made a few more moves in that area today, adding veteran reliever Daniel Hudson to the 40-man roster.

The team also designated infielder Andre Lipcius for assignment and optioned Miguel Vargas.

Hudson will begin the year in the Dodgers bullpen, a goal that he set out to do once he decided he wasn’t retiring. The veteran reliever missed most of the season last year due to knee problems. He came back for a short three-hame stint after recovering from a torn ACL, but he ended up tearing his MCL in his other knee.

He will be a valuable asset in the bullpen for Los Angeles, as he was a trusted arm before his injury. He contemplated retirement following last season but decided to give it one last go-ahead. With him making the team, his choice to continue his career seems to be a good one.

Dodgers Select Daniel Hudson - MLB Trade Rumors

Vargas did go with the team to Korea, but he will not be on the active roster for the games against the Padres. In 26 at-bats throughout Spring Training, Vargas has hit .192 with one home run and one run batted in. It’s been a challenge for the young player, but the team still believes in his upside.

Lipcius was recently acquired by the Dodgers from the Detroit Tigers and has been seen as potential depth within the Los Angeles infield. In 12 at-bats this spring, he is hitting .250 with zero home runs and two runs batted in.

Hudson will be with the major league club. Because of this move, L.A. has optioned infielder Andre Lipcius for assignment and optioned Miguel Vargas. The 37-year-old will play a huge role off the bullpen to start the season, as he will be on the Opening Day roster immediately. The right-handed pitcher has missed the majority of the last two seasons due to knee issues. However, when he is healthy on the mound, he is a force to be reckoned with, especially as a Dodger.

Report: Blue Jays to sign Daniel Hudson - NBC Sports

From 2022 to 2023, Hudson holds a 1.98 ERA, 35 strikeouts, 211 ERA+, 2.14 FIP, and a 0.98 WHIP in 28 games and 27.1 innings. The World Series champion will look for his second one in Los Angeles this season, and he’ll look to play a vital part in what should be this historic season.

The Los Angeles Dodgers roster is one of the most dynamic and explosive in the history of baseball. Los Angeles has plenty of talent on this team, and some could confuse them with being an All-Star squad.
