Kansas City Chiefs @ Miami Dolphins Preview – The Dolphin Seer

Dolphins sign from Kansas City Chiefs Sensational Ace Which Will Help Them In Strengthening the Squad Ahead of 2024 Season as it Draw Nearer

Will 2024 be the year Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa targets tight ends?

The Miami Dolphins have made their second addition to the tight end room. Katz Brothers Sports announced on Thursday that their client Jody Forston had signed a deal with the franchise. Terms of the deal were not included.

Fortson, 28, did not play in 2023 due to surgery last August for a dislocated shoulder. The 2019 undrafted college free agent has 14 receptions over the last two years — four are touchdowns. Of his 265 snaps with the Kansas City Chiefs, 160 came as a receiving threat. That said, PFF graded him as an above-average or better run-blocking tight end each of the last two seasons.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel has one of the league’s top receivers in Tyreek Hill. Raheem Mostert led the league in rushing touchdowns while De’Von Achane closed his rookie season averaging over seven yards per carry. Utilizing a tight end is the next challenge for McDaniel’s offense.

Former Chiefs tight end Jody Fortson finds a new home with Miami Dolphins

Jody Fortson’s agents The Katz Brothers announced that their client has signed with the Dolphins. They did not announce any terms of the deal.

The move to Miami sets up a reunion between Fortson and his former Chiefs teammate Tyreek Hill. They were both in Kansas City from 2019 through 2021 and Fortson remained there through last season, although he did not contribute to the team’s Super Bowl run as he missed the season with a shoulder injury.

Fortson had nine catches for 108 yards and two touchdowns in 13 games during the 2022 season and he had five catches for 47 yards and two touchdowns in 2021. He joins Jonnu Smith as new additions to the tight end room for the Dolphins.

The Miami Dolphins are adding a three-time Super Bowl winner to the tight end room with the hopes he could become a red zone weapon.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Jody Fortson, who made it to the NFL as an undrafted college receiver out of Valdosta State, will be signing with the Dolphins according to his South Florida based agent the Katz Brothers.

KC Chiefs still have plenty of WR help in case of emergency

Fortson’s one-year contract will guarantee him $425,000 of his $1.2 million salary, which features $200,000 in per game roster bonuses. He was paid a $25,000 signing bonus.

Fortson, 28, was not tendered a contract offer from the Chiefs during the available window for restricted free agents. That promptly made the 6-foot-4, 230 pound athlete an unrestricted free agent able to sign with any NFL club once the new league year began, and Miami was his choice.
