What's In a Badge? A Short Lincoln City Badge History | The Stacey West

Lincoln City have been on a march towards the play-off spots in 2024 and their recent success but the super star will miss the remaining season games

Lincoln City put in another statement display on Tuesday night, thrashing Garry Monk’s Cambridge United 6-0 at Sincil Bank. That was off the back of a rampant 5-1 away win over promotion hopefuls Barnsley at the weekend.

There were fantastic performances across the board from the Imps. TJ Eyoma and Dylan Duffy scored off the bench while Jack Moylan and Joe Taylor both netted braces.

The latter mentioned Taylor is really starting to show what he’s about. His double against Cambridge made it five goals in six League One games for Lincoln City, and he’s got two assists to boot. The 21-year-old’s fine form comes off the back of an impressive loan with League Two side Colchester United and takes him to 17 goals and four assists in 38 games across all competitions this campaign.

Luton Town loanee Taylor is proving he’s got what it takes to be prolific in the third-tier after 11 goals in 25 fourth-tier games. Looking ahead to next season, you have to feel the Welsh youth international is ready for a shot in the Championship.

Taylor has played in the Championship before. He featured on four occasions while on the books with Peterborough United and played five times for Luton Town last season, even starting on the final day against Hull City.

The cameo he made in the play-off final shows how highly the Hatters rate him too. He saw a late goal disallowed but picked himself up from that disappointment to thrash home a penalty as Rob Edwards’ side rose to the Premier League.

Having enjoyed such success with Colchester United and now Lincoln City, you have to think another step up awaits Taylor. A shot at regular minutes in the Championship seems the logical move but who knows, perhaps Luton Town look to hold onto him even if they remain in the top-flight.

For now, Taylor’s full focus will be on ending the season as strongly as possible with the Imps. Their 12-game unbeaten run means they’re in with a shot of earning a play-off spot and if the loan star can maintain this stunning form, he might be in for another fight to earn another promotion.

Lincoln City sit 9th in the League One table, three points off 6th placed Stevenage having played two more games.
