Daniel Farke press conference | Preston North End v Leeds United | EFL Championship - YouTube

Leeds United players have been sidelined against Millwall this weekend game in order to…

The nine day break between matches has finally handed Leeds United the chance to rest and recover.

The Whites have just come out of an incredibly relentless run of games and for the first time since a 2-1 win over Preston North End on January 21, have a full week to prepare.

Many of Daniel Farke’s squad were forced to play through some knocks and bruises last week but Leeds were actually only without four players for last Friday’s win at Sheffield Wednesday.

Jaidon Anthony was missing due to personal reasons but should be back, Stuart Dallas is now approaching two years on the sidelines, and Pascal Struijk is coming towards the final stages of his recovery.

And after the good news on Anthony, Leeds Live are also reporting that Jamie Shackleton is set to be in contention to face his former club Millwall at Elland Road.

Shackleton has not kicked a ball since the FA Cup draw against Plymouth Argyle at the end of January, as he has encountered a number of niggling injury issues.

The ‘underrated’ 24-year-old had actually been due to start at Chelsea last month but fell ill in the hotel prior to kick-off, which ended up developing into concussion symptoms.

Shackleton has therefore had to follow the protocols that comes with recovering from such an injury, which saw him miss all of Leeds’ last three league matches last week.

However, with such a long time to prepare between Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall, Leeds Live suggest that Shackleton should now be back in contention for a place in the squad.

Even when he hasn’t been available, Shackleton hasn’t always made the bench for Leeds this season but his return is another option for Farke to choose from.
