Cardiff City have finally completed the signing of CFR Cluj striker in the winter transfer window
Cardiff City looked into a potential deal for the attacker earlier this winter.
Otele, 24, has made 34 appearances in all competitions this season, chipping in with 13 goals and six assists.
AllNigerianSoccer claim the Bluebirds ‘tested the waters’ in regards to luring him to Wales a couple of months ago but the player wasn’t keen on the move. The likes of Bordeaux, Lorient, Trabzonspor and Stuttgart have also been mentioned as potential suitors.
Cardiff City eyed striker
Otele has been in decent form in this campaign and could have been a decent addition for Cardiff if they would have been able to get a deal over the line. Instead, they acquired former Bristol City forward Famara Diedhiou on loan from Granada.
The Bluebirds are eyeing a place in the Championship play-offs right now under Erol Bulut and beat automatic promotion chasing Ipswich Town 2-1 in their last outing. They have won their last four matches on the spin and are unbeaten in their last five which has seen them rise to within five points off the top six.
Otele could have provided them with more competition up top for the end of season run-in. However, the Welsh outfit seem to be coping adequately at the moment as they prepare for their upcoming fixture against rivals Swansea City away this weekend before the international break.
The Nigeria-born man played for FK Kauno Žalgiris in Lithuania before moving to Romania in 2022. He then spent 12 months at UTA Arad before linking up with his current club last year.
Cardiff weren’t able to sign him in January despite taking a look at the possibility of bringing him in. His future remains up in the air amid links to a few European teams.
Vassell rose up through the ranks at Plymouth Argyle and played 10 times for their first-team as a youngster, as well as having loan spells away from Home Park to get some experience with the likes of Weymouth and Truro City.
He then joined the latter on a permanent basis before Luton Town snapped him up in 2016.
Cardiff City snapped him up a couple of years later but his time in Wales was impacted by injury problems. He played only three times for the Bluebirds before they made the decision to release him.
Vassell has been keeping up his fitness levels with Bristol Rovers over recent times and will be pleased to have sorted himself a new club for the time being.
Bath play their football in the National League South and are currently eyeing promotion to the National League this term. They sit in 4th place and are chasing down the likes of Yeovil Town, Chelmsford City and Worthing.
