Hull City’s plans outlined for crucial extended international break as Liam Rosenior changes approach

The Tigers have the luxury of an extended international break before the game with Stoke City at the end of the month

Saturday’s thrilling 2-2 draw against Leicester City at the MKM Stadium was their final Championship outing for three weeks after next Saturday’s scheduled trip to play-off rivals Coventry City was cancelled because of their involvement in the FA Cup.

That postponement coupled with the March international break means City do not play again until the Easter weekend when the Tigers host relegation-threatened Stoke City on Good Friday, March 29, followed closely by the Easter Monday visit to rivals Leeds United.

The visit of Stoke City will be the first of just nine games for the Tigers to secure their play-off place, and given what’s at stake over the next few weeks, head coach Liam Rosenior has changed his approach from previous breaks.

Previously, Rosenior had been keen to give the players time off and away from the training ground during international and other extended breaks, but the group will be staying together throughout.

His players will train as normal this week as if they were gearing up for the trip to the CBS Arena but will be given Saturday and Sunday off before flying to Antalya for their six-day warm weather training camp at the Regnum Carya resort on Monday morning, March 18. During that week-long trip, City’s players will train as normal and play a friendly game, which is expected to take place towards the end of the week.

The players along with the 50 supporters and their guests will then return to England on March 23, with the players back at training on Monday morning, March 25, to gear up for the Friday afternoon meeting with the Potters in what will be another pivotal contest in their quest to finish in the top six.

During their training schedule, Rosenior’s players will also play a behind-closed-doors game between themselves in addition to the contest they’ll have out in Turkey.
